Slump and Compression test of concrete

Image
Concrete Slump Test This test is performed to check the consistency of freshly made concrete. The slump test is done to make sure a concrete mix is workable. The measured slump must be within a set range, or tolerance, from the target slump.                                               Tools and apparatus used for slump test (equipment): Standard slump cone (100 mm top diameter x 200 mm bottom diameter x 300 mm high) Small scoop Bullet-nosed rod (600 mm long x 16 mm diameter) Rule Slump plate (500 mm x 500 mm)   Workability   of concrete is mainly affected by consistency i.e. wetter mixes will be more workable than drier mixes, but concrete of the same consistency may vary in workability. It can also be defined as the relative plasticity of freshly mixed concrete as indicative of its workability. Procedure of slump test for concrete: Clean the cone. Dampen with water and place on the slu

Size of steel bars used for construction

Size of steel bars used for Construction | Hello, friends in this post i am going to tell you about some information about  size of steel bars . It is not fixed to use the  size of steel bars  for specific purposes. It depends on the types of construction and purpose of the structure that you are going to construct. Steel Bars are the construction material which is used to construct structure like building, bridge, RCC road, tower, etc. It is used in Concrete to provide a tensile strength in concrete as the tensile strength of concrete is very less as compared to the compressive strength of concrete. so, to balance the bearing capacity of concrete structure in both tensile as well as compressive strength we have to use different sizes of steel rods according to design into the concrete. This type of concrete which contains steel rod are known as  RCC  (Reinforced Concrete Cement). Size of Steel Rods or Bars But we can see generally used diameter of steel bars are for different struct

Survey of civil engineering | What is survey in civil engg

Survey of civil engineering | What is survey in civil engg | What is the Survey of civil engineering? Surveying is the art of determining the relative position of distinctive features on, above or beneath the surface of the earth by means of measurement of distance, direction, and elevation. The survey of civil engineering is to know the present condition of the surface on the earth and what kinds of activities we should do to get the required condition of the surface. Like, how much cutting and filling will be required to get a smooth surface along 10 kilometers of road. Survey of civil engineering Objective / Importance of surveying The main objective of surveying is the presentation of plans and maps of the areas to show the relative positions of the objectives on the surface of the earth. The science of surveying has been developing since the very initial stage of human civilization as per their requirements. They evolved methods for demarcating their boundaries as soon as they d

IS all codes for civil engineering pdf

IS codes for civil engineering pdf – All Codes Used | Standard is a set of rules based on some principle or procedure to perform task, design, and others. IS codes for civil engineering free download pdf are given below. Standards also include technical Specification and sometimes restricts to be on the safe side. The codes act as a discipline to be followed while doing particular tasks so that it is compatible with the site condition others.                                                                                      Every country should have its own set of codes and standards. Some of the popular codes in the field of civil engineering are British code, American code. Is codes are quite compatible for us though quite a modification is done in here to suit site conditions. IS codes are codes developed by the Indian authority Bureau of Indian standards to maintain quality of work, standardization and to serve as a guide in every field. Here is a list of Is Code in the field o
